After you build a website, one of the first things you need to think about is how you will get visitors. One option you have available to you, which is often free of charge, is the utilization of traffic exchange programs.
How traffic exchanges work is pretty simple. All you need to do is join the program, and in exchange for you viewing other members’ web pages (typically spending between 15 and 30 seconds on each page), you will earn credits that can be applied toward the showing of your own pages to other members of the program. You can see why these programs are named traffic exchanges, because you and the other members of the program are effectively exchanging traffic with one another.
One thing you will want to look at when considering traffic exchange programs to join is the surf ratio. This has to do with how many pages you must view in order to earn one credit to be applied to your pages. This is expressed as a ratio, such as 3:1. In this example, you would have to view three pages before earning one credit. The ratios vary from program to program, so depending on your preferences and needs, make sure to find out what the ratio is before joining.
If you are interested in targeting your page to a certain interest group, most traffic exchanges offer this option. You would be wise to take advantage of it, because that way you know that those who selected any given interest category are going to be more likely to pay attention to your page.
There are two different types of traffic exchanges that you should be aware of – manual surf and auto surf programs. In manual surf traffic exchanges, the member must click some sort of turing number prior to being shown the next page in the rotation. This goes a long way to ensure that the viewers of the pages are actually paying attention and giving the pages in rotation the attention that they deserve.
Auto surf programs, on the other hand, do not require that the member click a turing number before being shown the next page in rotation. This means that they are able to not even be near their computer in order to earn credits and page views for their websites.
It is because of the differences between manual and auto surf programs that you must decide what kind of traffic you want to receive. If you simply want to boost your page views, an auto surf traffic exchange may be perfect for you. If you are looking to attract repeat visitors to your website that have a true interest in what you have to offer, you will likely be better off with a manual surf program.
Whichever traffic exchange you decide to go with, the end result will be an extremely economical way for you to drive new traffic to your website. You can easily find loads of options by doing a search for “traffic exchanges” on any search engine.
