How to Put the Viral Effect Into Your Business
Traffic Generation June 6th, 2010Creating work that goes viral is something that many internet marketers work on over the course of their entire careers. The power of viral content is such that it can skyrocket your business almost overnight, and that’s the allure of creating such an event. Unfortunately there is no way to predict what work will go viral and what work will simply be passed over. You can do things a certain way, follow particular guidelines that can contribute to the chance of ‘going viral’ with your content. It’s possible you may see these and think they’re too common sense, but you really never know what may set you apart from all the others.
Make your work visible. Only creating your work is not enough. Other people have to know about it. One of the best ways to do this is to submit your work to the social bookmarking sites. Free Services like Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon are great places to submit your work. People surf these sites frequently while looking for the next big news item. It only takes a few of these internet users to click on your links in order for you to go from nonexistent to very popular. Make sure that people can find you. Going viral will be impossible if people can’t find your work.
Make it easy for people to share your work offline as well. Don’t assume that you have to limit your marketing efforts to the internet because that is where you make sales and promote your work. Viral content can still become contagious even if it is offline. Don’t make it hard for people to print, burn copies and share your work with those that don’t have access to the internet on a regular basis. Do it this way and you could get tons of new customers.
Tell people an interesting story. Few things are more powerful than a great story told in an interesting way. People generally are uninterested in random facts, but… if you can use that fact in a unique story of some kind then you may have a viral story. You need to try to have people invest in you emotionally.
A well-written story is probably the very best way to do that. You’ll find a great story to be more popular than and ads. Don’t you think a good story will command your attention more than an ad? A quick fact about something may catch someone’s eye, but it doesn’t make them want to know more like a story can.
Creating content that goes viral is not an exact science. This is due to no one being able to know what will become viral, or not. You can, however, take steps to ensure that your work is worth the attention you are trying to receive. But being lazy and only hoping won’t do a thing for you. It’s not hard at all to use these painless steps to help you content. Never know – your results could be virally amazing. Find more internet marketing tips.
